Are you a carer?
A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to family or friends who could not manage without this help. This could be caring for a relative, partner or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or substance misuse problems.
- In Neath Port Talbot 20,000 people are unpaid carers (2011 census).
- One in every 8 adults is a carer
- Many people who look after family, friends or relatives, would not recognise themselves as a carer.
- Recognising yourself as a carer can be the first step to getting information, advice and support.
